Dear members of the Monitoring Committee,

A turbulent year marked by war in one of our Member States is coming to an end. The coming year will also bring its share of challenges. Democracy, human rights and the rule of law have been subject to many vicissitudes in recent times, and require closer attention on our part, especially during the successive crises we are facing. It is therefore all the more important for us to strengthen and intensify the statutory tasks of the Monitoring Committee.

First of all, I would like to remind our Ukrainian friends of our unfailing support in this difficult time they are going through, and that is a turmoil that all of Europe is also going through, but united in the values that are those of the Organisation.

I should also like to take this opportunity at the end of the year to thank you for your commitment to the work of this committee in 2022.  I am convinced that together we will be a strong voice for democracy, human rights and the rule of law.

I wish you all a happy holiday season and a relaxing break with your loved ones.

Gerbiamieji Stebėsenos komiteto nariai,

baigiasi neramūs metai, paženklinti karo vienoje iš mūsų valstybių narių. Ateinantys metai taip pat atneš nemažai iššūkių. Pastaruoju metu demokratija, žmogaus teisės ir teisinė valstybė patyrė daugybę permainų, todėl joms reikia skirti daugiau dėmesio, ypač per vienas po kito sekančias krizes, su kuriomis susiduriame. Todėl mums dar svarbiau stiprinti ir intensyvinti įstatymais nustatytas Stebėsenos komiteto užduotis.

Pirmiausia norėčiau priminti mūsų draugams ukrainiečiams, kad šiuo sunkiu metu, kurį jie išgyvena, juos neabejotinai remiame, ir tai yra sukrėtimas, kurį išgyvena ir visa Europa.

Metų pabaigoje taip pat norėčiau pasinaudoti šia proga ir padėkoti jums už jūsų įsipareigojimą 2022 m. dirbti šiame komitete. Esu įsitikinusi kad kartu būsime stiprus demokratijos, žmogaus teisių ir teisinės valstybės balsas.

Linkiu visiems linksmų atostogų ir ramaus poilsio su artimaisiais.
